E245 – How to Decide with Professional Poker Player Annie Duke

Real estate has created many millionaires but has also created just as many heartbreaks. There are many great suggestions out there on how to remain productive and excel in this space, but one is rarely talked about that has the potential to be a great asset and very powerful. This tool deals with thinking about the way that you think, and analyzing your thought process.

Our guest for today is Annie Duke who is an experienced corporate speaker and consultant on the behavior of decision making. In 2018, she released her first book Thinking in Bets: Making Smarter Decisions When You Don’t Have All the Facts which quickly became a national bestseller. Anne is also a former poker player and has won more than $4 million in tournament poker, a World Series of Poker bracelet, the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, and the NBC National Poker Heads-Up Championship.

Today we are going to discuss…

  • How investors should factor in preferences, payoffs, and probabilities when making investment decisions
  • Whether developers are considered the flat earthers of real estate or not
  • The concept of fear setting and how we can use this concept as entrepreneurs and investors to make more accurate decisions
