E197 – COVID-19 – Behind the Scenes at the CDC

At this point, you may be feeling like all of the COVID-19 news is overwhelming or repetitive. However, in order to make the best investment decisions, it is important to have access to all of this information. While the biology behind the virus has been discussed along with the economic component, we have yet to hear about the behind the scenes operations of the CDC.

Our guest for today is Courtney Buck, who is a graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology where he studied economics and applied mathematics. He then joined the US Army and deployed to Afghanistan, disarming roadside bombs as an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician. Following his service, he has worked for the United States Special Operations Command and then eventually the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Courtney has been a real estate investor for multiple years and started his real estate journey by purchasing single-family homes.

Today we are going to discuss…

  • What goes on behind the scenes when there are viruses all over the world
  • What it has been like at the CDC during COVID vs during SARS and Ebola
  • How having access to testing will impact our current situation
  • If we are going to make it as a society
