E127 – 10,000 Miles to the American Dream

Many entrepreneurs have a specific morning routine to ensure their day gets started on the right foot. Some of these routines can include listing things you’re grateful for, including your health, business, and relationships. One thing that many people do not even consider being grateful for is being born in the United States. The US is one of the most favorable places to be born, and also likely the best place to invest in commercial real estate. Today’s guest wasn’t born with that advantage; however, he certainly didn’t let that get in the way of him coming to the US to make his dream a reality.

Our guest for today is Reed Goossens, who is a real estate entrepreneur and Managing Partner of Wildhorn Capital, where he is responsible for asset management and all things financial, including accounting and underwriting. He is the host of a real estate investment podcast, Investing in the US – An Aussie’s Guide to US Real Estate, where he interviews other distinguished real estate entrepreneurs about their success and helps guide international investors who want to get started in the US market.

Today we are going to discuss…

  • Why our guest was motivated to give up a high income job as a structural engineer to pursue something more entrepreneurial
  • Raising capital from investing using the “6 P’s” structure
  • The elevator pitch and how to correctly use it
